Mining Analogy
Science | Mine |
requires funding, building institutions and dedicated people | requires land, machines, people |
can get us knowledge which is crucial | can get us minerals and commodities which are neccesary for industry |
might be considered theoretical, abstract or useless and is an investment of ressources | one could say, rather crop weed or veggies |
the insights won are then turned into technology by tech and companies which then goes to the general public | the goods, diamonds, iron, gold is going through industry and is then turned into goods which then benefits the general public |
There is a lot of foundational shit, like linalg, analysis, algorithms and stuff neccessary for ex to get insights from quantum mechanics, theory of relativity | To reach the diamonds deep underground, you first need to build stable roads, reinforce tunnels, and set up proper infrastructure. Without that foundation, digging deeper becomes too risky or impossible. |
